RUSH, RUSH, RUSH

Apologies for the long absence, I've been busy. Most of my 'blogging time' has been dedicated to setting up the new sites. The rest of my time has been dedicated to clearing up affairs here, preparing to move, prepping for the new job and.. err... playing xbox.

After I quit my job, I made a promise not to buy Halo 2 until after I was hired elsewhere. After I was hired elsewhere, I naturally bought Halo 2... and X-Men Legends ... and Spiderman 2.

The first two games are amazing. The latter has ok gameplay but it also has great Bruce Campbell narration plus the Distillers offering original material for the soundtrack. It was too cool to resist - it's as if they were targeting Evil Dead and Punk Rock fanatics.

That almost never happens, which is a shame and an error on the part of marketing and advertising types. We part-time punks and deadites are much more wealthy and influential than conventional wisdom indicates.

For instance, I discovered through a link on Jakartass' sidebar today that I'm the 54,718,645th richest person in the world. That's in the richest 0.911% (or basically richest one percent) of the world's population.

I'm loaded.
It's official.
I'm the 54,718,645 richest person on earth!

How rich are you? >>

I expect that I'm actually - in adjusted terms - a few percentage points lower. The rank was based solely on gross annual income. It was not adjusted for purchasing power parity (PPP), taxes or assets. Singapore and my next home Shanghai both have low taxes, but I rent my flat and these are both expensive cities. I could certainly live a much wealthier lifestyle in Thailand on half my income.

But never mind any of that. I'm rambling.

What I wanted to report is that the Chinese government provisionally granted me a journalist visa today, a fair bit ahead of expectations. I wasn't anticipating this until after Chinese New Year - in about two weeks.

What that means for this blog is that there will not be any new posts for a while. When there is it will likely be the final post. 'Myrick.ca' and 'Asiapundit.com' are still in development, but they will be launched soon. My final post here will likely be a link redirecting readers to those sites.

The death of myrick.blogspot.com won't be an end. And I'm really pleased that Blogger gave me the opportunity to start a free blog. Though I still have low traffic I feel I've accomplished something, despite the fact that I've been blogging for less than a year.

Beyond coming in third in the Singapore category of the ABAs, I've actually been invited by Mr Brown to join his posse on xbox live (for ang moh readers, that's basically like being asked to join Glenn Reynolds' xbox clan).

Life is very cool. I expect it to get cooler.
