BLOODY MICROSOFT/NORTON/CANON

That previous post was started on Friday and completed this evening. I had the urge to send it on Friday but my blasted computer has been wrecked by either Microsoft or Symantec. Or maybe Canon. Or maybe all three.

Last week, I had installed that bloody Windows update and an updated version of Norton Anti-virus (with Internet Security). I installed them both on the same day and, ever since, I haven't been able to use my Canon printer, scanner or digital camera.

Now, whenever I sit in front of this damn machine I end up spending several frustrated hours trying to get everything to work again. After a while I get enraged and go off and watch TV, play xbox or do something else to calm me down.

I've asked a few of my computer-savvy friends if they had any idea how to resolve the problem and they gave me the same answer... “Buy a Mac.”

In the longer term, that may be a good idea. But for now, if anyone has any idea how I could correct this without spending several hundred dollars I would love to hear them.

UPDATE: It was Norton. Avoid the Norton Internet Security 2004 edition. For that matter, avoid Norton completely. I still haven't heard back from their customer service about how to undo all the damage their product caused.
