STOP KIM NOW!
Bloomberg, citing the highly respected Jane's, says North Korea has developed new missiles that could threaten the continental US.
North Korea is deploying land- and sea- based ballistic missiles possibly derived from Soviet-era weapons that can carry nuclear warheads, Jane's Defense Weekly reported.
The sea-based system appears to be based on a decommissioned Soviet submarine-launched ballistic missile, the R-27, and may have benefited from Russian designers, the publication said.
The land-based system has a range of 2,500 kilometers to 4,000 kilometers (1,553 to 2,486 miles), while the sea-based missiles could reach at least 2,500 kilometers, according to Jane's."
The land-based missile could not reach continental North America, or even Hawaii, although it could hit anywhere in Japan. The sea-based missile could strike basically anywhere on the Pacific coast.
Thankfully, Singapore is a little over 500 miles out of range of the land-based version.
For those living in East Asia, here's a fun site where you can calculate whether or not Kim Jong-il could nuke you. You'll have to use Seoul as the default for it though, Pyongyang isn't enough of a tourist destination to be included in the default options.
