NATIONAL DAY

Yesterday was Singapore's national day, where it was celebrating its 39th year of independence.

I've been too busy to write much recently, but in honor of Singapore's big day here's a selection of local blogs.

Popagandhi, a populatr site with little bit on tech stuff a little bit on music.

Xiaxue has a popular local site and occasional entertaining rants.

On Idle Days the Idler keeps keenly attuned to local news.

Zuco's Blog has entries and observations and musings on politics, homosexuality and Morrissey.

At Metastasis, one of Singapore's prettiest blogs, Nicholas Liu offers musings on life and some keen photos of bad Engrish.

The Progressive Caucus of Sembawang - having a Kucinich supporter in Singapore, is weird. I disagree with just about everything this guy writes (or wrote, as it hasn't been updated in a while) but it's still nice to see some dissent on the local scene.

Finally, Talking Cock is a satarical newspaper and not a blog. Still, it's occasionally funny, often incomprehensible and sometimes both.

Away from local things, I've been building the blogroll lately and some worthy additions include:

Simon World: A prolific blogger from Hong Kong, who includes a keen roundup of Asian bloggers.

Babbling Brooks: Damian Brooks, a regular on the messageboards of Canadian conservative bloggers, has launched his own site.

I've also added the full regiment of Red Ensign Bloggers.
