65% CONSERVATIVE

Michelle Malkin's media diversity test has been circulating the Web. Here's my answers with adjusted YES/NO responses in brackets. I only score 65%, but Michelle isn't really a libertarian so that shouldn't be surprising.

I have never voted for a Democrat in my life.

I'm Canadian, so this is true. However, I was in the NDP in my younger naïve days, which is considerably worse. Still, I don't think you should rank someone's conservatism based upon the past. PJ O'Rourke, Chris Hitchens and even Charles from LGF did not start out as Republican/Bush backers. (NO)

I think my taxes are too high.

Yes. But in Singapore I still pay much less than you probably do. (YES - 5)

I supported Bill Clinton's impeachment.

Yes, on principle I did. However, I thought it was self-destructive for the Republicans to pursue it. (YES - 10)

I voted for President Bush in 2000.
No (see #1). If I were an American I would probably have gone Libertarian. Although I was really happy that Al “Earth in the Balance” Gore lost. (NO)

I am a gun owner.
I wish. Singapore has pretty strict laws about that. (YES - 15)

I support school voucher programs.
Absolutely. (YES - 20)

I oppose condom distribution in public schools.

No. Though I don't actively support this either. (NO)

I oppose bilingual education.
Not on principle. If the demographics warrant it - as in Singapore, Switzerland or Canada - I have no problem with it. But immigrants to any country should have to learn the language of that country (for their own sakes). (YES – 25)

I oppose gay marriage.
No. Though I oppose some of the things it may mean in terms of income redistribution. (NO)

I want Social Security privatized.
Yes. (YES - 30)

I believe racial profiling at airports is common sense.

Yes. (YES - 35)

I shop at Wal-Mart.

There is no Wal-Mart here, but I have shopped there before and would do so again. (YES - 40)

I enjoy talk radio.
Yes, especially given most off the tedious AOR crap that's on non-talk radio. (YES – 45)

I am annoyed when news editors substitute the phrase "undocumented person" for "illegal alien."
A little, though not as much as I am when 'militant' is used as a substitute for terrorist. (YES - 50)

I do not believe the phrase "a chink in the armor" is offensive.

Only when it's used to describe a Samurai. That would be a Jap in the armor (sorry that was irresistible). (YES - 55)

I eat meat.

No. (NO)

I believe O.J. Simpson was guilty.

Yes (YES - 60)

I cheered when I learned that Saddam Hussein had been captured.
Yes. (YES - 65)

I cry when I hear "Proud to be an American" by Lee Greenwood.

No, it's schmaltzy and overbearing. Though I will occasionally get emotional over “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” “Taps,” “Cadence to Arms” and even “Rule Britannia.” (NO)

I don't believe the New York Times.
Sometimes I do, but I don't trust the NY times as an unbiased source. (NO)
